Scooper Speaks
Passionate Thirst by Cameron Dean

Once more I find myself at odds on what to say about a book. Did I enjoy Passionate Thirst? Yes, it was slightly different than the normal vampire/slayer novel. Featuring Candace Steele, AKA Nerves, as the woman who can recognize vampires and kills them. We also meet Ash the vampire who almost killed her and possibly the love of her life/death.

Candace helps with security at a Vegas hotel and gets roped into helping run security for pop singer, Temptation. She also hasn’t seen Ash since the night he almost ripped her throat out but suddenly, he’s back in the picture (or trying to be). There is more going on than meets the eye and it’s up to Candace to figure it out before it’s to late.

I enjoyed that Candace wasn’t willing to fall right back into the arms of her would be killer. I also liked Candace’s ability to continue on with her life, a life without Ash. She wasn’t emotionally crippled to the point of not dating or having sex anymore. On the flip side, this book reminds me of several Buffy episodes wrapped up into one book. Candace has issues in regards to Ash. Ash is mysterious and we know very little about him. (Sound familiar?)

I’m not quite sure if this book is listed as a fiction novel or a romance novel. It feels more like a work of fiction. There are two more books slated to be released in this series, Luscious Craving and Eternal Hunger. I’m interested enough in the characters that I’m going to chance buying the next book. It piqued my curiosity in the next installment.
